Robin had two brothers. His father was a senior executive at Ford Motor Company and his mother was a model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As it happened the family moved to Michigan, where Robin entered the Detroit Country Day School. The boy studied well and liked PE lessons the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a teenager, Robin attended Redwood High School, graduating in 1969. Williams was popular among his classmates and became a trendsetter there because of his good sense of humor and jokes. He quickly found a common language with everyone, had a kind heart and knew how to sympathize and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams had a knack for acting from a young age. In 1973, he won a full scholarship to study at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robin was one of the best students there, so he took up an advanced-level program. His classmates were Christopher Reeve and William Hurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It all started with humor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Robin Williams&#8217; professional career started in 1970 with stand-up comedy shows. Robin loved what he was doing and having moved to Los Angeles, he performed at <em>The Comedy Show<\/em>. Very soon, the talented comedian was noticed by TV producer George Schlatter, who offered Williams to participate in his<em> Laugh-In<\/em> show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robin agreed and made his debut stand-up at this show at the end of 1977. Even though <em>Laugh-In<\/em> ended very soon and didn\u2019t achieve the success that Schlatter expected, Robin Williams managed to declare himself. During his audition, he stood on his head instead of taking a seat, thus impressing the producer Garry Marshall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The character turned out to be very successful and spawned a spin-off. The American sitcom <em>Mork &amp; Mindy<\/em> was aired in 1978, with Robin playing Mork, an alien from the Ork planet. The show was a great success and made Williams famous all over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1980, Williams appeared in the film <em>Popeye<\/em>, playing the role of the sailor Popeye. Soon, he got more roles in new movies. In 1984, he played the role of Vladimir Ivanoff in the dramedy <em>Moscow on the Hudson<\/em>, for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award as the best actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1987, he played a military radio DJ in the military comedy film <em>Good Morning, Vietnam<\/em>. In 1989, Williams starred in the drama film <em>Dead Poets Society<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1993, Robin Williams appeared in <em>Mrs. Doubtfire<\/em>. His character was a man who turned into a woman to become a nanny for his ex-wife and thus be closer to his children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1997 was an especially successful year for the actor. Then he starred in <em>Good Will Hunting<\/em>, where he played a psychotherapist who consults a troubled but very talented person. Robin won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in this film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams&#8217; career developed very quickly and he had to spend a lot of time on the set. Soon, it had a negative effect on his health. The actor suffered from depression for several years. In addition, he began to use drugs and alcohol. Robin Williams committed suicide in 2014.
