Learn more about it at <a href=\"https:\/\/chicago-trend.com\/en\">chicago-trend.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How did it all start?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the winter of 1974, Jeff Perry, Terry Kinney and Gary Sinise staged their first production of <em>And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little<\/em> in a small church basement in Highland Park. It was very warmly and positively received by the audience. Soon, they presented three more plays. In 1975, the men registered <em>Steppenwolf Theatre Company<\/em> as a non-profit organization and released a new production <em>The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1976, the group took up residence in the empty basement of a Catholic school in Highland Park and presented its first season of performances. In 1980, the troupe moved to the 134-seat theater at the Jane Addams Hull House Center and invited new actors. During the 1980s, the association continued to expand, producing plays that received national and international acclaim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1991, Steppenwolf Theatre Company built their current venue at 1650 N. Halsted St., which became their permanent one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Modern troupe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Steppenwolf Theatre Company was actively developing with each coming year and gained decent fame and recognition. Eventually, the company has become a leading national theater with 49 members who are some of the best actors, playwrights and directors. The theater has become legendary thanks to such exciting and innovative productions as <em>Balm in Gilead,<\/em> <em>The Grapes of Wrath<\/em>, <em>August: Osage County<\/em> and <em>The Brother\/Sister Plays<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The modern organization remains true to the original vision of its founders. It offers its audience of different ages interesting and unique productions. Every aspect of its activity is based on team ethics. Besides the fact that the troupe has created and presented more than 40 productions for the residents of Chicago, they also had great success at the international level, including <a href=\"https:\/\/new-york-trend.com\/uk\/eternal-1204-istoriya-brodvejskogo-teatru-20-stolittya\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Broadway<\/a>, London, Sydney and Dublin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Steppenwolf Theatre Company is the winner of prestigious awards, such as the US National Medal of Arts, 12 Tony Awards and others. Under the leadership of its Artistic Directors and Executive Director, Steppenwolf Theatre Company is constantly re-examining the acting and drama landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Steppenwolf Theatre Company operates as a non-profit organization that relies on community support to create and host exciting performances, readings and other events on its three stages.
