The first hits of Vee-Jay Records were performed by vocal groups playing in R&B doo-wop style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the end of the 1950s and early 1960s, the popularity of rock and roll had declined. Nevertheless, several local venues where songs of this genre were played remained prosperous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1960, Vee-Jay Records continued to release new songs by various artists. Dee Clark, Gene Chandler and others from this label enjoyed tremendous success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is believed that the most successful local group of all time is Chicago. They were also inspired by jazz and blues traditions when writing their hits.
